Communication
Telephone Systems

We can supply and install complete telephone systems within your building to allow.

  • Multiple extensions from 1 BT line.
  • Internal transfer of calls.
  • Place people on hold.
  • Provide loudspeaker announcements to any/all extensions.
  • Bar external calls from any extension.

We can also install complete infrastructure cabling to allow incoming BT lines to be distributed to multiple dwellings.

Data Networks

ACS can install complete data network including all of the associated equipment and hardware:

  • Cabinets.
  • Patch Panels.
  • Switches.
  • Cat 5e/6 Cabling
  • Fibre Optic Cabling

For a comparison of Cat 5e and Cat 6 cable read our technical bulletin: Click Here or for more information on fibre optic back bones used to link remote network switches across large sites Click Here.

Infrastructure Cabling

ACS can install the latest voice/data networks back to patch panels and fibre optic links between patch panels. Our services include full test and commissioning procedures, to enable the clients preferred IT and Voice specialists to complete their aspects of the installation in the knowledge that the system has been fully installed by our trained operatives.

Wi Fi Section

Wireless Fidelity (Wi Fi) is a commonly used technology that allows electronic devices such as laptops, Ipads and Smart Phones to exchange data wirelessly over a computer network.

802.11 Standards

The 802.11 standards, created by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), defines and categorises the different types of Wi Fi networks and equipment available. Multiple variations of the basic 802.11 are now available including 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n and all have different bandwidth and distance capabilities.

ACS can guide you through these differing standards and recommend the one most suited to your needs and budget.

Hotspots

With over 4 million (and rapidly growing) hotspots in the UK, it could well be time for you to provide a hotspot for your customers or staff. ACS can create hotspots anywhere in your building (inside or out) and provide all the expertise to allow you to control who accesses it and when.

Complete Building Coverage

ACS can design a system with overlapping hotspots to provide complete uninterrupted coverage within your building. We'll take into account your bandwidth requirements, building structure and number of users to design a customised system based on your needs.

From simple unmanaged systems up to WLAN controlled networks that allow seamless migration from hot spot to hotspot, ACS can design and install a system to meet your needs.

Link Remote Buildings

ACS can create Wireless Bridges with specialised transmitting and receiving equipment to link buildings thousands of meters apart. Wireless Bridges are commonly used to allow data, phone calls and internet access to be easily shared at minimum cost.

Use of Existing Network

It's not always necessary to install new (and expensive) infrastructure cabling to install a Wifi network. ACS will carry out a free site survey to identify any existing data points that can be used or re-allocated to reduce your costs as much as possible.

We can also take advantage of Power over Ethernet (PoE) to ensure that no extra power sockets are required for your system. For further information on PoE, Click Here.

Intercom

Whether the application calls for a simple telephone system to connect to external lines, a complex intercom for use in a hazardous, noisy environment or even a special 'through glass' speech facility, ACS can supply and install a wide range of equipment.

Public Address

Public Address Systems and Fire Alarm Voice Evacuation Systems for use in various locations including factories, offices, schools and retail outlets can be designed to provide for services such as announcements and background music, class change signals and shift breaks. Read our technical paper on Public address systems: Click here.

Integrated IP Communication Solutions

Traditionally a building was fitted with separate communication systems with little or no integration between them. Examples of these stand alone communication systems include:

  • Telephone systems
  • Door Entry
  • Barrier control
  • Public Address
  • Lift Communication
  • Emergency and Information Point's

Although these systems work well individually they offer no flexibility in their design and no ability to integrate. Furthermore the quality of communication is often limited and is now considered poor when compared to the latest IP technology.

stenophone

Working with Stenophone we are able to offer a completely integrated communication solution for your building giving you the flexibility your building needs to adapt in the future.

CONSOLIDATE; all communication through a single and practical IP-network.

REDUCE COSTS; within maintenance, IT support and travelling costs.

ENHANCE INTERACTIONS; easily identify when a colleague is available and get in touch.

CREATE SYNERGY; successful and efficient communication facilitates productive interactions and a valuable information sharing.

INCREASE PRODOCTIVITY; stream lined communication is efficient, reducing wasted time.

Alarm Signaling and Call Systems

General alarm signaling and other forms of audio/visual communication facilities can also be provided including: Radio paging to work independently or in conjunction with other systems Nurse Call Systems Doctor / Patient / Reception Call Systems Interview Room / 'Next' System Queuing System Accessible alarms for disabled W.C.s, changing and shower rooms Electronic Display Signs In particular ACS have a wealth of experience in installing integrated staff attack and patient call systems, for further information on the type of systems we can install, refer to our technical bulletin: Click Here.

Induction Loop and Infra Red Systems for the Hearing Impaired

Reception Desks, Meeting Rooms, Interview Rooms, Lecture Theatres, Multi Purpose Rooms, Function Rooms, Churches etc can all be equipped to cater for the requirements of individuals with hearing impairment. Portable equipment can also be provided. Read our paper on good practice for installing induction loops: Click here. Systems connected to microphones, televisions and public address systems can all be designed and installed. Purpose designed induction loop systems are available to minimise 'cross talk' between adjacent rooms, where a separate system is required in both.

Refuge Area Communication Systems

Installed in purpose built Fire Refuge Areas within buildings, these systems facilitate communication back to a centralised point used by fire officers and building management services. Complying with current fire alarm standards, the system is designed for use during emergency situations. Read our guide to Refuge alarms: Click here.

Soundfield Systems

Generally installed for use in classroom situations, these systems help to more fully engage pupils throughout the period of the teacher's lesson. Incorporating loudspeakers and a wireless teacher's microphone, the system re-inforces the teacher's normal voice, enabling it to be clearly heard throughout the classroom at all times. The systems can be coupled to induction loops / infra-red systems to overcome the more specific difficulties of the hearing impaired.

Voice / Data Networking

ACS can install the latest voice/data networks back to patch panels and fibre optic links between patch panels. Our services include full test and commissioning procedures, to enable the clients preferred IT and Voice specialists to complete their aspects of the installation in the knowledge that the system has been fully installed by our trained operatives.

Bespoke

Alarm and Communication Systems can provide solutions to address most requirements which are in some way communication related. In some cases where we are unable to utilise 'off the shelf' product integrated into a system, we can manufacture 'bespoke' equipment to meet the specific needs of the project.
